Sustainability is something we really care about at Pentangle and we’re certainly not been blind to the fact that our industry uses a lot of energy and certainly has an impact. It’s been reported that 3.7% if the world’s carbon emissions are generated by the internet and systems supporting it.

Whilst we’ve been making changes to the way we run our company to reduce our impact such as encouraging working from home and more frequent use of online meetings to reduce travel, recycling office waste, installing energy saving lighting, buying recycled paper for the small amounts of time we still need it and so on our biggest impact has always been the website hosting we provide to our customers.

Over the past 10 years we’ve been offered various “green” hosting options but none had ever met our rigourous quality standards for the hosting we provide until we met Nimbus Hosting. After a number of conversations it became clear that they not only knew what they were talking about when it came to sustainability and web hosting but that they were making company wide endeavours to improve the whole offering without just relying on carbon offsetting (of course they have to do some of this due to the physical products) with initiatives such as powering their head office through their own roof mounted solar array and have made sure their data centre meets ISO14001:2004 and BREEAM standards as well as being 100% powered by renewable energy. If all that wasnt enough they are investing profits into ocean projects and clean drinking water initiatives.

So, if you host with Pentangle you are now hosting on 100% renewable enrgy and, if you don’t host with Pentangle already why not take advantage of 3 month free hosting for new customers including upto 1 hour of migration support (typically we can transfer a WordPress website in just 15-20 minutes)
